Continuing Education (CE) Credit for ADARA Monthly On-line Chat Room Discussions

Through a cooperative arrangement with The Office of Staff Development and the Office of Deaf Services at the Alabama Department of Mental Health, we are able to pilot offering continuing education units for ADARA members. Please note: Only members in good standing (student, or professional) who attend at least 75 minutes of the session can be awarded CEs. Membership standing will be verified before awarding CEs. Former members may renew their ADARA membership at any time prior to any chat if they wish to receive credit.

CEs are currently offered for:

• Psychologists

• Social Workers

• Counselors (mental health)

• Nurses

We are working on getting approval for CCRC and Interpreters. Attendance certificates will also be offered upon requested.

Each chat will be worth 1.5 contact hours. Please be very attentive to start times. Chats are usually on the third Monday of each month and begin at 9 p.m. eastern time, 8 p.m. central time, 7 p.m. mountain time and 6 p.m. pacific time. 

To receive CE credit, the following must be observed:

1. Go to http://www.adara.org/cgi-bin/gtchat/chat.cgi and log in to the chat with Last name as shown on the membership card



REMINDER:
DO NOT go to the community forum area. Go to the Chat Room.

It is a good idea to try to log on before the chat to be sure everything is working OK.

2. At the conclusion of the chat, download the evaluation, complete and e mail to moderator.

• CE form will ask for membership number and expiration date

• Evaluation of the chat

• Email address for the certificate

• If requested, a certificate can be sent by U.S. mail.

An ADARA Board member will function as the moderator or proctor

• Will monitor who comes and goes during the session. Moderator will be responsible for reconciling the logins and the certificate request.
  

• Ensure that those requesting CEs adhere to a 15-minute grace period (we will allow people to log in up to 15 minutes after the start of the session and still receive credit. People who leave early may lose the opportunity to receive credit).
  

• At the end of the Chat, the Moderator will prepare of list of people attending for the purpose of verifying requests for CEs.
